Financial Aid Information

For many, investing in a college education is a major financial decision, and many students and families need to look beyond their own resources for assistance. The University plays a major role in supporting students in need of financial assistance through its significant and ever expanding need-based aid programs. (No merit-based scholarships are available.) Students who wish to apply for financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment, must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application.

Both the FAFSA and PROFILE should be submitted online by March 31 for the next academic year. Students applying for the spring of 2008 should have submitted these forms by March 31, 2007. Students applying for the 2008 fall semester should submit these forms by March 31, 2008. Notre Dame’s Federal School Code is 001840, and the CSS Code number is 1841. Please note that some private and state financial aid programs require the FAFSA and/or PROFILE be completed prior to our March 31st deadline. Students should not wait for an admission decision before filing the FAFSA and PROFILE. In addition to the FAFSA and PROFILE, applicants are asked to submit, directly to our Office of Financial Aid, signed copies of their Federal tax returns and W-2 forms.

International Students:
Unfortunately, at the present there is no funding to assist international transfer students. International students should be prepared to finance, either privately or through a sponsor, the full cost of their Notre Dame education. The International Student Certification of Finances must be submitted at the time of admission illustrating and documenting sufficient financial support to meet the projected cost of a Notre Dame undergraduate education.
