Deadlines
Applications for fall semester admission must be completed by April 15. Applications for the spring semester are due by November 1. Fall semester applicants in most cases will be notified of the decision of the Transfer Admissions Committee between June 1 and July 1. Spring semester applicants usually will be notified between December 1 and January 5.

Confirmation and Deposits
Fall-semester applicants accepted for transfer admission are required to confirm their intention to enroll by sending $500 within two weeks. No deposit is required of spring-semester admitted students. The confirmation deposit is applied toward tuition and is nonrefundable.

Application Instructions

Application can be made to only one academic program per semester. Click here to see a list of academic programs of study by college. Students must be full-time (enrolled in at least 12 credit hours) degree-seeking candidates to complete the transfer application.

The transfer applicant must provide the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with the following items:

  1. A completed application form, available online (beginning in September) or by contacting us to request the paper Transfer Application.
  2. An official college transcript sent to the Admissions Office directly from each college attended. (IMPORTANT: Official transcript[s] for all available coursework should be submitted by the application deadline. In addition, an updated transcript including final grades for courses in progress should be sent as soon as it is available. A copy of the grade report sent to the student will suffice for the current term until a final official transcript can be forwarded.)
  3. Course descriptions from each college attended. Please do not send course catalogs, only photocopies of each class taken. Science and Engineering applicants also are required to send a copy of the course syllabus from each course.
  4. A completed Personal Record Form completed by the student’s academic advisor or dean from the most recent college attended.
  5. An official final high school transcript. (Although we retain First Year files for two years, if you applied to Notre Dame as a freshman, you still will need to have a final transcript sent.)
  6. Official SAT or ACT score report(s). We will accept scores listed on an official high school transcript.
  7. Official Advanced Placement examination results must be submitted to be considered for transfer credit. A copy of an AP student report form will suffice.
  8. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), which must be taken if the student’s native language is not English. The TOEFL is not required if a student has an SAT Critical Reading score of 550 or higher.
  9. A $65 nonrefundable application fee.

Special instructions for students who have previously applied for undergraduate admission to Notre Dame:

The Admissions Office retains First Year and Transfer applications for two years.

If you have applied for First Year admission within the past two years, your freshman application materials will be included in your transfer file. You do not need to resend official standardized test scores unless you have retaken the exams. Please pay special attention to items 5 and 7 on the application instructions list. Advanced Placement scores often are not included on high school transcripts.

If you have applied for Transfer admission within the past two years, your previous application materials will be included in your new file. You do not need to duplicate any of the documents already sent. You are required to submit a completed application form, the $65 application fee, an updated Personal Record Form, an original Personal Statement, and course descriptions and grades for any courses taken since you last applied.

All application materials and supporting documents should be sent to:
