“So what are you going to do after graduation?”
That is the big question. As a senior at Notre Dame, the year is a bit of a blur. Luckily, the chaos of this year provides us with some pretty special memories. More specifically, senior year is the time we get to celebrate our friends receiving dream job offers and acceptances into top-notch graduate programs.
Instead of just telling you the stats on where my class is going in the fall, I thought it would be interesting to let my friends share their own stories. In this series, you’ll be able to learn about what Notre Dame seniors are doing after graduation, how they came to this decision, and some fun facts about their ND experience.

Meet Devon. A finance major with a minor in art history, Devon will be working in NYC with the Boston Consulting Group, which ranked third in Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For." From watching Devon present in front of hundreds of people to leading his classmates around crowded streets in Hong Kong, I’ve seen him handle pressure like a pro.
What is your favorite Notre Dame tradition?
My favorite Notre Dame tradition is Domer Fest. (Note: Domer Fest occurs during orientation your first week at Notre Dame. Every student attends this giant festival with food, games, and a dance floor.) It is without a doubt the most cripplingly awkward experience of every Domer’s career, but its memory will also keep you smiling or cringing throughout your time here.
What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is a stone on the bank of St. Mary’s Lake. It is a very special place to me and one I often visit to reflect or think.
Can you tell us a little about your study abroad experience?
Studying at Hong Kong University has been by far one of the most formative elements of my Notre Dame experience. Ultimately, it helped me discern that Asia is a place I would like to one day call home.
If you could relive any day at Notre Dame it would be?
The day I participated in the Mr. ND pageant. There is nothing quite like making a fool of yourself in front of a huge crowd.
What made you want to follow that career path?
As a freshman, I had honestly no idea what I was going to make of myself. My involvement with SIBC ultimately introduced me to the world of consulting. The ability to solve problems and engage with individuals directly appealed to me initially. I spent my sophomore summer with BCG, a consulting firm in D.C., and my experience exceeded my expectations. I returned to the firm as a junior but transferred to the San Francisco office. In the end, I decided the East Coast is where I wanted to be, so I will be in the city that never sleeps after graduation.
Has there been anyone at Notre Dame that had a big impact on your career choice?
Throughout my ND career, there have been countless individuals who have mentored me and offered themselves as resources to help me achieve my goals. I am always amazed at the lengths fellow Domers will go to to help. Alex Jones '16 was my first project leader with SIBC. His mentorship ultimately helped me develop my passion for consulting and he certainly helped expose me to resources and opportunities that made my current position a reality.
What advice do you have for a current high school student that wants to be in your shoes in the future?
Be involved. Find what you are passionate about and pursue it unapologetically. There are innumerable opportunities available to you at Notre Dame; all you have to do is go out and find them.
