What is your favorite campus tradition? Serenades

What is your favorite spot on campus? North Quad

What is your favorite Dining Hall Meal? Stir Fry

What is your favorite thing about dorm life? Being a part of a tightly-knit community of amazing, talented, supportive, and kind women. I'm sure it isn't something you would be as attached and involved in any other university.

What made you choose Notre Dame? Apart from the academic excellence and esteem that comes with being Irish, its people.

What is your favorite part about being an international student at Notre Dame? I not only get to spread awareness about my culture, but also get to interact with people from different parts of the world and learn from them. Notre Dame is an extremely welcoming and accommodating community where people of all races and colors are accepted and nurtured.

How did you adjust to life on campus? Adjustment for me was not very difficult as I had visited my family in the United States several times. Also, I had my RA to turn to for ANY help I needed—be it understanding the washing machine or talking to her if I felt homesick.

How do you celebrate your culture/heritage at ND? Although Notre Dame is a Catholic university, the community accepts those coming from all religions with open arms. It is important to know that there is absolute freedom given to followers of all religions. I felt that I was celebrating my culture overtime I spoke to a new person and told him something about India—its food, its people, etc.

What advice do you have for international students? I was a little wary of the religious aspect before I came to Notre Dame (given the cultural differences the United States was going through at the time), however I just want everyone to know that it is a wonderful and safe community made of its people and you are valued here irrespective of cast, creed, race, or gender. Also, In the applications please don't be afraid to put yourself out there and make your beliefs and what you stand for known. Please feel free to contact me if you want to know about anything related to the Notre Dame experience at asood1@nd.edu.
