Notre Dame Transfer Applicants Interested in Majoring in Business
Among the most selective universities that offer undergraduate degrees in business, Notre Dame consistently ranks in the top five nationally in the percentage of students earning business degrees. In four of the last five years, the Mendoza College of Business has been recognized by Bloomberg Businessweek as the #1 undergraduate business school in the United States.
The management of the size of the business college is important to ensure that our students, faculty, and employers continue to reap the benefits of one of the top business education programs worldwide.
The Mendoza College of Business is committed to admitting as many students as possible into their desired majors. For transfer students, the only major we can guarantee is Accountancy and you should expect that Finance will not be an option.
In the event of limited availability in certain majors, the following criteria will be used to prioritize selection of transfer students into those majors:
To ensure they are making adequate progress toward the BBA degree, students must satisfy the following requirements:
- Accumulated at least 45 degree credits through three semesters; and
- Either have completed or be enrolled in at least 25 credits that satisfy MCOB requirements; and
- Earned a grade of C or better in the introductory course of any limited enrollment major (e.g. ACCT 20100 for accountancy intents) to be eligible for that major.
Cumulative GPA, at the time of major declaration, will then be used to determine assignment of limited enrollment majors. The cumulative GPA cutoff may vary across years. Students whose cumulative GPA does not meet the cutoff, but who have a GPA of at least 3.50 in the courses that satisfy Mendoza College of Business requirements, may be given special consideration.
