Life at Notre Dame

Welcome to the University of Notre Dame, a place whose mission encompasses intellectual inquiry and emotional maturity, physical health and spiritual transformation. Here we aim to form our students in classrooms and in residence halls, in chapels and on athletic fields. Here we welcome as family students, faculty, and staff who possess unique talents, histories, beliefs, and customs. Here we seek to build community both on campus and throughout the world. Here we challenge and question, accept and love.

Welcome to Notre Dame. Welcome to our home. You’ll find there’s no place else quite like it.

The security of all members of the campus community is of paramount concern to the University of Notre Dame. The University publishes an annual report outlining security and fire safety information and crime statistics for campus. This document provides suggestions regarding crime prevention strategies and important policy information about emergency procedures, reporting of crimes, law enforcement services on campus, fire safety, and information about support services for victims of sexual assault. The brochure also contains information about the University’s policy on alcohol and other drugs, the SafeWalk program and campus shuttle service. You may view the complete document at crime and clery act. A printed copy of this brochure is available by sending an email request to or by writing to: Office of the Director, University Security Police, 204 Hammes Mowbray Hall, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
