Study Abroad

Horizons

Whether it takes place in Fremantle, Australia or Cairo, Egypt, Nagoya, Japan or Monterrey, Mexico, the University of Notre Dame believes that international study enriches its students' liberal education. Direct personal experience of another language and culture broaden student perspectives, expanding commitment to learning, service, and faith.

Majority

Over half of our undergraduate students spend at least one semester or summer studying overseas, making the percentage of students studying abroad the 3rd highest of any college or university in the nation. Students may choose to spend a semester, year, or summer abroad during their sophomore or junior years. Both University-sponsored and facilitated programs are available in 20 countries on six continents.

Feasible

Credits and grades transfer for students studying in University sponsored programs. Financial aid awards are also transferable for University sponsored programs during the fall and spring semesters.  The same applies to programs officially facilitated by the University. Students who wish to study abroad through other programs will not necessarily be eligible for University financial aid or credit transfer.
