Notre Dame has admitted 1,610 Early Action Applicants to the Class of 2020. 5,321 students were reviewed under the University’s Restricted Early Action program. Early Applications were up 21% over last year.

The admitted students:

  • 1,076 different high schools from around the world
  • 47 states and the District of Columbia
  • 31 different nations in citizenship
  • 95 students are citizens of other nations or U.S. students studying outside of the United States
  • 46% are from Public, 41% Catholic, 13% Private/Charter schools
  • 25% are U.S. students of color

Fifty-two percent of the admitted students are men and forty-eight percent are women. Nineteen percent are children of alumni, fourteen percent are siblings of current or prior Notre Dame students, and nine percent are the first in their family to attend college.

The academic and personal profile is the highest achieved by a Notre Dame Early Admission admit cohort.

“This year our admitted pool continues the trend of being more global and diverse than any previous year," notes Don Bishop, associate vice president of undergraduate enrollment. "The admitted students surpassed their exceptional academic records with even higher levels of achievement in leadership and service. We are inspired and impressed with the students who aspire to join the Notre Dame family.”

Notre Dame practices a holistic admission process that evaluates students for their exceptional intellectual promise, creativity, leadership, and their sense of service to others.

Notre Dame has a non-binding Restrictive Early Action program, meaning admitted students are free to select any other college or university to which they have been admitted. Last year, sixty-seven percent of the Early Action admitted students enrolled at Notre Dame.

This year, 818 admission candidates to Notre Dame were deferred in the early action process and they will be reconsidered in the regular decision admissions process. The deadline for regular decision applications is January 1. Regular Decision notifications will be announced in late March.
