It’s a special week for Notre Dame seniors as they prepare for Commencement on Sunday, May 20. But before they say their fond farewells to campus and classmates, the Class of 2018 has an unforgettable Senior Week in store.

An annual Notre Dame tradition, Senior Week takes place the week before graduation after undergraduate students have mostly moved out of the residence halls. This year, seniors kicked off the celebration Sunday with a trip to Chicago to see the Cubs play the White Sox. Monday continued the fun with an evening at Strikes and Spares, an entertainment center near campus, for bowling and go-kart racing. Domerfest 2.0 is a fun follow-up to the original Domerfest, which takes place during Welcome Weekend, students' first weekend on campus as first-year students. Domerfest 2.0 promises a night of music, inflatables, food, and reminiscing.

Senior Week event co-chairs Molly Robinson ‘18 and Anna Schierl ‘18 worked with a committee of 10 other seniors to plan the six days of events leading up to graduation. “Senior Week is a time for our class to come together to celebrate and reflect on our time at Notre Dame and the relationships we have made here,” says Robinson.

The Commencement Ball and class picnic round out the week, along with a very special last trip to the Grotto as a class.

“Although this event required the least planning, it will be my favorite because I remember my very first trip to the Grotto as a transfer student. That trip seems like it was so long ago, and I know going back to wrap things up and light my last candle as a student will definitely be an emotional experience.”
