You can afford Notre Dame

  • Need-blind Admissions for All Students

Your ability to pay is not considered when evaluating your application for admission.

  • Meet 100% of Financial Need

100% of your demonstrated financial need is met—covering the gap between the cost of attendance and what your family can reasonably contribute.

  • Scholarships, Not Loans

While your family may choose to borrow to help fund your education, the University's financial aid offer is composed of only grants and scholarships that do not need to be paid back.

Our 4-Year Commitment to You

Your admission to Notre Dame comes with a four-year commitment. We will continue to invest in you and your education throughout your undergraduate years. You can be confident that as long as your family’s financial circumstances remain substantially the same, your Notre Dame financial aid will remain consistent. If your family's financial situation changes and you require additional assistance, we will review your application and adjust our aid to meet any additional need.

Financial aid was huge for my family and me. I thought my only options would be to attend a school in my home state; however I came to realize that Notre Dame would meet 100% of our financial need. They’ll meet you all the way, wherever you are.

A student’s financial situation is not considered when evaluating their application for admission

Notre Dame is one of only 10 U.S. colleges and universities that is need-blind and meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for all undergraduate students.

As a first-generation traditional college student and daughter of a single mother, affordability was a primary concern when considering colleges. Besides earning multiple scholarships, receiving a generous financial aid package solidified my choice to call Notre Dame my home. It’s been the best decision to come to Notre Dame.

Every family’s financial picture is different

We take the time to understand your unique circumstances, and then we create your personalized financial aid plan using University scholarships and grants—money that never has to be repaid. A big reason why I chose Notre Dame was because of the financial aid package that I received. I applied to a lot of different schools to see what my options would be. I knew I had to choose a school based on what was financially feasible for my family and me. Notre Dame ended up providing me the most generous offer and I am so grateful that I called Notre Dame my home these last four years.

Determining Family Contribution for 2026-2027

Notre Dame will estimate your family's ability to contribute to your education expenses on a yearly basis, based on the financial and household information you provide in your financial aid application. The need analysis formula takes into account many factors, some of which include income, assets (not including retirement assets), certain expenses (e.g., medical expenses), family size, and number in college.

We offer three tools to help estimate what a Notre Dame education might cost. These estimates are a starting point based on basic financial details and may not capture your family's unique circumstances. If you have specific questions, please reach out to us—we're here to help.
