Gannat Mukhtar

Gannat Mukhtar
Class of 2024

Gannat is a senior from New Jersey, majoring in American studies and global affairs on the pre-law track. She lived in McGlinn Hall for three years, but is now off campus.

Of McGlinn she says, “My dorm is the best dorm on campus because it is in the best quad (west quad), a two minute walk from the best dining hall (south dining hall), and our Priest (Father George) is awesome!”

She is involved with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as both a Recruitment and Visitation Intern and an Outreach and Programming Intern, as well as working with various service organizations on campus.

In her junior year fall semester, Gannat studied abroad in London, England, where she had the opportunity to intern for the Secretary of State for Defence of the United Kingdom Parliament. In the spring of her junior year, while on campus Gannat took on a remote internship with the Cook County State Attorney’s Office. Feel free to ask her about balancing an internship and classes.

Gannat’s favorite Notre Dame tradition is the feeling in the stadium when the game's about to start and "Shipping Up To Boston'' plays.

Among other things, you can ask Gannat about being a person of color/first generation at Notre Dame, making friends at ND, changing majors/not knowing what you want to study, and going to a school far from home.
