Sofia Benigno
Class of 2026
  • Major(s): Neuroscience and Behavior, Theology
  • Hometown: Cucamonga, California

Sofia is a sophomore from Cucamonga, California pursuing a double major in neuroscience and behavior and theology.

On campus, she calls Welsh Family Hall her home, where she serves as the faith life commissioner and music ministry director. When asked about Welsh Fam, Sofia says, “Some of my best friends are girls that I’ve met in Welsh Fam, and Angela is an amazing rector. I’m so grateful for the diverse and genuinely sweet dorm community, and the opportunities Welsh Fam has offered me!”

Aside from working for Admissions as an intern and tour guide, Sofia sings with the Notre Dame Magnificat Choir, leads the praise and worship band Totus Tuus, serves as the design commissioner for Notre Dame Right to Life, and works with the Filipino-American Student Association, the Asian-American Association, and Neuroscience Club.

When she’s not in rehearsal, studying on the second floor of Jordan, or running from meeting to meeting, Sofia can usually be found practicing behind a piano, grabbing coffee with her friends, or taking walks around St. Mary’s Lake.

Feel free to ask her anything about Notre Dame, especially in relation to faith life, the Asian-American experience, and balancing academics, extracurriculars, and interpersonal relationships in college. Love thee!
