"Fortune Favors the Brave". The motto of Flaherty Hall is the foundation of this new and thriving dorm community.

Located on the very new East Quad, Flaherty Hall is four stories tall and filled with singles, doubles, and quad rooms for its residents to choose from. Additionally, a lounge and kitchen on every floor is definitely something to write home about!

Flaherty is also right next to Pasquerilla East and Dunne halls, yet has made a unique imprint on campus in its four short years as a women's community. Built in 2016, the dorm is named after Mary Hesburgh Flaherty, the niece of the late Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., and a 1979 Notre Dame graduate in one of the first classes to include women.

Known primarily for Flaherty Food Fights, a Chopped-like dining hall cooking competition that takes place every spring, the Flaherty Bears are bringing competition to ND. There is also Flaherty Fights, where people across campus are encouraged to purchase pink hair extensions aimed at raising funds and awareness for breast cancer in October. Flaherty is also the sponsor of Project Pumpkin Pie which keeps dining staff and Flaherty girls incredibly busy as they bake 100 pumpkin pies for the Center for the Homeless in November.

It is because of their incredible dorm community and dedication to service that Flaherty has exponentially grown in recognition and reputability on campus in such a short time. There is no explanation necessary as to why their mascot is the Bears as they continue to show aggressive passion and resilience in their mission to help the greater Notre Dame community, as well as their own dorm.
