More than 28,000 students applied to the University of Notre Dame this year and approximately 3,500 were admitted. Of those admitted students, 60 percent have enrolled for the fall semester. The University enrollment plan calls for approximately 2,060 students in each first-year cohort.

Members of the Class of 2027 reflect impressive academic excellence, leadership experiences, and a strong commitment to the University’s Catholic character.

This class is, “intellectually curious, talented, other-centered, and creative,” says Micki Kidder, vice president for undergraduate enrollment. “What is most inspiring is the evidence these young scholars demonstrate of their passion for Notre Dame’s values, commitment to others, and authentic desire to make a positive impact on the world.”

The Class of 2027 includes a record 20.5 percent of first generation and Pell recipients, including 96 students admitted through the QuestBridge National College Match program. For more than 15 years, Notre Dame has partnered with Questbridge to cultivate trusting relationships with high-potential, lower-resourced students and open doors at Our Lady’s University.

The class also represents a historic multicultural composition, with 42 percent identifying as U.S. students of color or international. Students currently reside in all 50 states and 48 nations.

The University is in its third year of a test-optional practice, which allows students to choose whether to submit a test score to be included in the evaluation of their application. Thirty-seven percent of the students admitted to the Class of 2027 did not submit a test score with their application, an increase of four percent from the prior year.

Notre Dame continues to see encouraging impact from its commitment to a need-blind admissions process and enrollment of students from families with high levels of financial need. This year, Notre Dame will fund over $200 million in need-based aid awards for undergraduate students.

“We are pleased and excited to welcome the newest members of the Notre Dame family,” says Kidder. “They will make a significant impact during their time on campus and, ultimately, employ their Notre Dame degree to be a force for good across the world.”
