The Early FAFSA: What You Need to Know

Author: Shannon Rooney

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, is available early this year. As of October, for the 2017-18 academic year, the FAFSA, usually not available until January, will use income information from two years prior to the academic year instead of just the previous year. This means that prospective students and their families can fill out the FAFSA early using the income information they currently have available.

Students can apply for financial aid at Notre Dame on one of two timelines based on whether they apply Restrictive Early Action or Regular Decision. The chart below outlines the necessary steps.

In order to be considered for need-based financial aid at Notre Dame, prospective students should submit the both the FAFSA and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE Application.
