When thinking about Notre Dame's resources for mental health and emotional support, most poignant is the University Counseling Center (UCC) and the new Fighting Irish Cares telehelp.
The UCC is a frequently used source for counseling and other support. Through their individual counseling appointments, group sessions, addiction counseling, and mental support, the UCC is incredible.
The UCC is completely free and allows students to be able to drop-in and speak openly about their conflicts, struggles, worries, and even successes without the fear of a bill at the end. This is even more powerful since COVID-19.
With students back home from campus in the spring of last year, Notre Dame saw a need to extend counseling services beyond campus boundaries. In came Fighting Irish Cares.
This telehelp app has a few opportunities ranging from one-on-one counseling, nutritionists, physicians, and emergency help.
Even with students back on campus, the Fighting Irish Cares resource is still available and free for students.
These two untapped resources are there for all students, whenever they need them! So, whether school is getting to be too much, home life is stressful, or you're just having a bad day, there is a team of people at the UCC and online, qualified and willing to help you!
