Transfer Students

Welcome Home

Take your Next Step and Join the Notre Dame Family

Congratulations on your admission to the University of Notre Dame!

For over 180 years, we've been educating scholars who go on to make a positive impact in their communities and become a force for good in the world.

On this site, you'll find useful information and links to help you take the next steps toward being a part of our rich, vibrant, and diverse Notre Dame community.

Refer to the Important Information & Checklist below and our FAQs for Admitted Transfer students for next steps and information about financial aid, housing, orientation, and other details.

  1. Reply to Offer

Confirm your place in our entering class via your applicant status portal, and submit your non-refundable $500 confirmation deposit.

  2. Create NETID and Complete Enrollment Tasks

A few days after we receive your confirmation, you'll receive an email with instructions for setting up your NetID and your Notre Dame email account. Once your Net ID has been created and processed and through the course of the summer, you will begin receiving communication from various campus partners about pre-enrollment tasks. Many of these will be found in the Welcome Weekend site of canvas.nd.edu.

  3. Final College Transcript(s)

It is your responsibility to have the official final transcript(s) from your previous institution(s) sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (Attention: Transfer Committee). Approved college credits can be transferred only from official transcripts.

  4. AP/IB Test Score Reports

Notre Dame will award credit for some advanced placement exams. If you have any eligible scores, please request that the College Board or the IB Organization submit official scores to the University.

  5. Medical History

You are required to electronically submit your vaccine history and complete the online medical history questionnaire through University Health Services (UHS). Entering your vaccinations requires a login with your NetID and password. Failure to meet the immunization requirements may result in a delay in registration for the next semester. If you have any questions, please call University Health Services at (574) 631-7497.

  6. For International Students Only: Proof of Medical Insurance

The University of Notre Dame requires that every international student has medical insurance. Please send a letter documenting your coverage to University Health Services with your Medical History and Physical Report form. If you do not send proof of insurance, you will automatically be enrolled in the Notre Dame health insurance plan.

  7. For International Students Only: Pre-Arrival Immigration Paperwork (If Applicable)

If you have studied at a college or university in the United States, you must arrange for the release of your SEVIS record from that institution. Notre Dame is unable to issue you a new I-20 or DS-2019 until the record is released. Please see the Questionnaire and Transfer Eligibility Form for instructions to complete this process.
