International Student Information

In addition to reviewing the other information provided in this admission packet, international students should also review the instructions below. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Student VISA Paperwork

Upon receipt of your confirmation, our office will mail you a confirmation package which will include an I-20 or DS-2019 form. If you have studied at a college or university in the United States, this package includes information regarding the release of your SEVIS record from that school. Please review the form entitled “Transfer Eligibility Form” and complete the steps listed. We are not able to issue you a new I-20 or DS-2019 form until your SEVIS record is released from your most recent academic institution.

Proof of Immunization

A record of immunizations is required by the State of Indiana and the University of Notre Dame. In addition to providing proof of immunizations, Indiana State law also requires all international students be screened for tuberculosis (TB) by a medical professional in the United States. Time will be provided during International Student Welcome to complete this at Notre Dame. Please complete the Medical History and Physical Report before you leave your home country. This form will enable our nursing staff to determine whether you meet all requirements in advance, resulting in a shorter wait time for you at Welcome Weekend registration. Failure to meet the immunization and screening requirements will result in your inability to register for classes at the University. You may find this form and complete details here.

International Student Orientation

There are two consecutive Welcome programs for international students. The first program is for all new students to the University (both international and domestic). The second program is run by International Student Services and Activities (ISSA). You will receive a complete itinerary for both programs following confirmation. Time will also be provided to complete your tuberculosis screening at Notre Dame’s University Health Services. Please be aware that the ISSA orientation program is mandatory for international students.
